Eating Strawberries by the Pool
Here Malia is playing in the backyard. She didn't want to sit in the pool, but she did want to eat her strawberries and and get her hands wet!
Cooking in the Kitchen
Malia has a lot of fun cooking in her new kitchen. At the end of this clip she gets a phone call. That's the best part! She answers the phone, throws it in the sink and then resumes her conversation. Earlier in the day, she tore up mommy's kitchen along with the old phone book you can see in the background!

Cafe Du' Mont, French Quarter
Famous for its delicious powdered sugar covered beignets, Cafe Du' Mont remains a sweet memory from our trip. Malia did some table dancing here.
New Orleans
Walking down one of the main streets in New Orleans is quite the wonderful experience. The bright colors of the buildings and fanciful street art, the smells of red beans and rice, crawfish and smoking cigars, the sounds of saxophone, jazz piano, fiddling, guitar, the strange sights of voodoo shops and tarot card readers, and the feel of the warm sun beating down on your shoulders...it all makes for a super awesome day!
New Orleans Street Jazz
Here is a short sampling of the New Orleans Jazz music we got to listen to on the streets of the city. I just love this stuff.
Swimming in the Atlantic
Here you see Wayne and Malia playing in the Atlantic Ocean for the first time at Jax Beach in Jacksonville, FL.
Malia and the Turtle
Malia thouroughly enjoyed watching her cousin's turtle at their home in Kentucky. I am not sure the turtle was as amused with her. It showed no emotional response to her many squeals and shouts of delight.
Gullah Drumming in South Carolina
In South Carolina, there is still an existing population of Gullah people reminiscent of the unique Gullah slave culture. In Charleston, we happened upon a free Civil War festival near Boone Hall Plantation and we got to see some traditional Gullah drumming. It think it is very impressive!

A Beautiful Day
This guy was playing the most beautiful guitar music on the street corner of the French Corner, New Orleans by the Du'Mont cafe where we ate beignets and people watched.
Fiddling Girls
I know this video is sideways (my fault!), but it is still worth watching. These two girls were playing for money on a street corner in New Orleans. They were pretty good!
Escaping Through the Doggy Door!
Malia is learning from Koko and Lucy that the doggy door leads to greater freedom. She tries to escape 10 or 15 times a day now. Unfortunately for her, a few extra pounds of baby fat around her hips prevent an easy exit! My favorite part is the squeal at the end.

Giggles & Laughs 4-2009
Make sure the volume is up for this one! When these two get together, it's non-stop giggles & laughs. It's hard to tell who is having more fun!
Malia Walking 4-2009
This video was taken at Wayne's fire station. Malia has been walking for a few weeks, but she does not yet take the initiative to do it on her own.
